2010 OMGA Event Description

 


2 Man Shamble:  March 27th:  Blind draw two man teams.  Both players hit tee shots and choose the best shot. Both players play the hole with their own ball from there. Gross and Net divisions.

Stableford Format:  April 17th:  This is an individual event.  You earn points with each type of score you earn.  A bogey or worse earns 1 point, a par earns 2 point, a birdie earns 3 points, etc.  Gross and net divisions.  You can choose your foursome, and your tee time.  Tee times will be available in both morning and afternoon.  You must compete with other OMGA members and schedule your group with the pro shop.

Spring Classic:  May 7th & 8th:  Sign up as a two-person team for this new event for 2010.  Teams will compete in a Friday afternoon 9-hole Alternate Shot format that will determine the flighting of the field prior to the Calcutta that evening.  Saturday’s format will consist of a Better Ball competition with participants receiving 80% of their USGA handicap.

President’s Cup: May 22nd & 23rd:  Bracketed handicapped single match play.  The first round is played on Saturday and the second is played the next afternoon.  If you win the first round on Saturday, you then play the second round on Sunday afternoon.  The rest of the bracket will be completed with you scheduling the round with your opponent.

Buddy-Buddy Championship:  June 26th & 27th:   Bracketed handicapped tournament contested by two man teams.  The schedule is the same format as the Oxmoor Cup.  Choose your partner or see the pro shop for a partner.

4 Man Calcutta: July 17th & 18th:  Four man blind draw teams.  Each player plays own ball every hole.  You take the one best ball of the group on Par 5’s, the best two balls on the Par 4’s and the best three balls on the Par 3’s.  Gross and Net divisions.

Oxmoor Cup:  August 7th & 8th:  No handicap single match play with two different flights.  The first round is played on Saturday and the second is played the next afternoon.  If you win the first round on Saturday, you then play the second round on Sunday afternoon.  The rest of the bracket will be completed with you scheduling the round with your opponent.

Senior Club Championship:  August 14th & 15th:  Men of the age of 55+ who maintain a USGA handicap are eligible to participate in the two-day stroke play tournament.  All pairings will be created by handicap using the TPP program and then by score for the final round.  Individuals will be flighted and awards will be given for gross & net scores with the overall low gross also earning a coveted parking space in the front parking lot.

Men’s Club Championship:  August 21st & 22nd:  Male members of the Club of the age 54 & under who maintain a USGA handicap are eligible to participate in the two-day stroke play tournament.  .  All pairings will be created by handicap using the TPP program and then by score for the final round.  Individuals will be flighted and awards will be given for gross & net scores with the overall low gross also earning a coveted parking space in the front parking lot.

Tri-Athlon:  October 2nd:  Blind-draw two man teams.  Different format every six holes; Better-Ball, Aggregate Best Ball, and Scramble.  Gross and net divisions.

Points Championship:  October 30th &  31st (Tentative Date): Participation points are earned with all club events an OMGA member participates in through their place at the end of the tournament in either gross or net divisions.  The Annual Match Play Champions and Club Champion earn automatic exemption into a field along with the top 32 individuals securing a spot in the two-day season ending Points Tournament. (Date may be changed due to UK and UL Football game schedules.)
