    Oxmoor Ladies Golf Association

11/06/2009

Revised 05/13/2010

Mission:  The Oxmoor Ladies Golf Association (OLGA) organizes, promotes and oversees golfing events for women members in good standing (age 18 or older) of Oxmoor Country Club.  OLGA provides an opportunity for women golfers to develop their skills and knowledge of the game and build camaraderie with other members.   It does so through a variety of nine-hole and eighteen hole events that appeal to the entry-level through experienced golfers.  Membership in OLGA offers women golfers an opportunity to participate in as many OLGA sponsored events as their schedules allow.

Organizational Structure: The OLGA leadership team consists of eight positions that are elected biennially: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Public Relations, Social Coordinator, Member-at-Large (golfer of three or more years, Member-at-large (golfer of less than three years), and Exchange Day Coordinator. The President presides over all leadership and member meetings; consults with the Golf Professionals on OLGA events, requests and issues and represents the group on the Oxmoor Golf Committee.  The Vice President is responsible for recording and publishing the minutes at all meetings both for the leadership team and full membership; and, is a member of the Oxmoor Golf Committee.  She also assists the President and Golf Professionals with OLGA sponsored events.  The Treasurer interacts with the Oxmoor Country Club business office to record membership dues and keep current the list of active members.  The Public Relations person is responsible for promoting and marketing OLGA events and working with the Golf Professionals to ensure that OLGA information is disseminated to its membership via emails, the club’s website and bulletin boards.  The Social Coordinator plans and organizes food service, both purchased and donated, at events. The Members-at-Large represent the needs, wants and issues of the overall membership from the least to the most experienced golfers and assist with events as needed.  The Exchange Day Coordinator is responsible for organizing Exchange Day activities at Oxmoor and coordinating Exchange Day participation at other host courses.

Meetings:  The OLGA Leadership Team meets monthly.  The full OLGA membership meets at minimum of once a year, usually in the spring before the season begins.  Additional full membership meetings are called at the President’s discretion.

Association Dues: Dues of $90 per calendar year are automatically billed to all women members with

an established USGA handicap. OLGA Members receive a discount on the fee for the Member/Guest

tournament.  Women members who opt out of OLGA by contacting the Business Office will not be

eligible to participate in any OLGA sponsored events, including Guest and Exchange Days. The OLGA

leadership team has the discretion and authority to bestow honorary membership, at no cost, to an

individual due to extraordinary circumstances; for example, to someone whose age or physical

condition, in the opinion of a simple majority of the leadership team, warrants an exemption.

Handicap Policy: All members of OLGA are required to have an established USGA handicap.  The USGA maximum allowable handicap for women is 40.  In OLGA events members will use 80 percent of their posted handicap to ensure fairness and equity across the board. In non-OLGA events, full handicap will be used up to the USGA maximum of 40 for women.  OLGA members are required to post their own scores in the GHIN system for all nine and eighteen rounds of leisure golf played. The Pro Shop will post scores for all OLGA sponsored events, the Tuesday Night Catfight, Wednesday Play Days, Member/Guest and Club Championship.

Handicap Committee: The OLGA Handicap Committee consists of the President and Vice-President.  They are responsible for ensuring that OLGA members post all scores accurately, whenever they play golf, either for leisure or in sponsored events. They also ensure that maximum allowable scores are posted on each hole played.  Handicap disputes are handled with the strictest confidence and are done by analyzing data in the GHIN and Pro Shop systems.
